1. 6: Has the Word of God failed? No, of course not. And here is why!

God never promised that all Israel would be saved. What God did promise was that those who descend from Isaac were to be saved.

A. Abraham had had another son by the name of Ishmael. To claim that all of Abraham's seed were to receive salvation it to embrace Ishmael. Issac was the “son” of the promise .

B. V. 8. It is not the decedents of the flesh of Abraham who are “sons of God” but only those of the promise.

V. 10. Consider the case of Rebekah. God chose Jacob over Esau. The question is why? The answer is to prove, salvation does not come by works! (v. 11).
