C. Punishment: 2:4-9. Certain and Continuing (koinona)

1. Angels were not spared. Isa: 24:20-22, reserved for judgment.

2. Ancient World not spared. 1st Peter 3:19-20

3. Sodom and Gomorrah were not spared - -luxurious wealth and prosperity, (exception of Lot). Gen. 13:10-11; Ezek. 16:49-50 and Jude 1:7.

4. Therefore, God delivers the righteous and keeps the ungodly under punishment until the day of judgment.


D. Picture 2: 10-19.

1. Arrogance.

a. Despise authorities.

2. Brute animals: act like animals, will be destroyed like animals.

b. Eyes full of adultery (literally adulteress) which means that every woman became a potential adulteress in their eyes. Matt. 5:28.

5. Promise freedom; produce slavery. Jn. 2:34 and Rom. 6:16. Free love becomes white slavery. Drugged minds freed to go into orbit, suddenly come plummeting down and crashing to their destruction. Those who freely imbibe alcohol suddenly find themselves chained to a pink elephant. Those who freely inhale cigarette smoke find their lungs encased in cancer.

Gal. 6:7-8. Be not deceived, God is not mocked

E. Product 2:19-22

1. Slavery instead of freedom: what a man is overcome by this he is enslaved. Rom. 18:34.

2. Last state worse than the first: greater depth of depravity.

3. Better not to have known the way of righteousness.
