A Few Notes ________

Matt. 7: 7-11 but also see Luke 11:12, the scorpion.

Here is the idea: We are to ask and keep on asking. Do not stop praying (Luke 18-1-8 1st Thess 5:17, we are to pray without ceasing.

verse 9:

ask for bread and get a stone. Those little round rocks on the sea shore.

ask for fish and get a serpent. Almost certainly, an eel which was forbidden in the law (Lev.11:12).

ask for egg, get a scorpion. Did the father play a cruel trick on the son by giving him a folded up scorpion?

Here is the bottom line. God always answers prayer in HIS WAY. Some times that may not be what we want to hear.

VERSE 11 Does the Father have more wisdom than we? Are we evil. No, but we are weak, fallible, erring humans. We make mistakes.

So., we are to keep on asking, keep on seeking and keep on knocking. God will answer and He will do what is best for us.

The Law and the Prophets

We have just finished a section on the elevated status of Christian behavior. We are not to commit murder we can't even become angry.

Do not have extra martial affairs, don't even think about it. It is a shame that Judaism on the 1st century did not understand the law and the prophets.

Life at the Crossroads.

Matthew 7:13-14.

Life presents a choice to use. We can go the disciplined or the undisciplined way.
