I. The Misguided City. Chapter 11
1. The Evil Advisers. 11:1-2___25 men including Jaazaniah and Pelatiah leaders of the people. Jer. 28:1
2. The Evil Advise. 11:3 The Pot and the Flesh.
a. Time to build houses.
b. The city is the pot and we are the flesh (the pot protects, guards and preserves the flesh).
(McGuiggan says the opposite: time not to build houses; we will be boiled if we stay in the city; but this was all true advice, not false advice; verse 7 shows that the city would not protect them). Pot does not have to be cauldron; see verse 11.
Note: Our security must be in Christ and not the Church; in God and not Jerusalem.
3. The Evil Recompense. 11:4-13. The Dead Flesh Pot.
a. Those who stay in the pot will become dead, not alive.
b. Those who live will come out of the and go into exile.
c. Pelatiah becomes the first to die and confirm the falsity of his prophecy that they would live and build houses and be saved in the city. Reduced his credibility.
Note: Putting prophecy to the proof: A.A. Allen said he was alive & would continue to live, but died of acute alcoholism the same day of his prophecy.
4. Hope for a Return and a New Heart. 11:14-21.
a. God's promise to be a sanctuary for the exiles.
b. God's promise to restore the land.
c. God's promise that they will cleanse the land of wickedness.
d. God's promise to give them a heart of flesh that will obey God.
5. Departure of the Lord from the City. 11:22-25.
Note: First the Lord left the Temple (10:18-22) and now He leaves the city (11:23).
II. The Exiled City. Chapter 12
1. The Prophet's Baggage and Exile. 12:1-7
a. Ezekiel prepares his baggage.
b. Ezekiel digs out a hole in the wall and leaves at night.
2. Prophecy of King Zedekiah's departure through the breach in the wall at night (12:8-16).
a. Prediction fulfilled in 2nd Kings 25:2-6; Jer. 39:4-5.
b. Kings flight by night.
c. King's capture and exile to Babylon: Blindness see 12:13 (Zedekiah's eyes are blinded in fulfillment. Jer. 39:7; 2nd Kings 25:7).
3. Refutation of those who claim that Fulfillment is Far Off.
a. False Proverb: days are long and very vision fails. see v.27.
b. Fulfillment in days of his readership (sse v.25). No more delay, v.28__your time is up!
III. The Deceived City Chapter 13
1. The lies of false prophets. 13:1-7
a. Those who prophesy from their own inspiration. 13:2-3.
b. Claim that the Lord declares when He has not spoken (13:6-7)

2. Punishment of False Prophets of "peace" (13:8-16)
a. God's opposition. 13:8
b. Will not remain as counselors of the people and will not return to Israel. 13:9.
Note: There are false Prophets everywhere today.
3. The While-Washed wall. 13:10-16.
a. Peace when there is no peace. (10) healing when there is none.
b. The wall of siege built by the prophets has been white washed by false prophets. 10
c. The fall of the wall on the heads of the false prophets. 11-16
4. Punishment of False Prophets of "Safety: 13:17-23.
a. False Prophets who prophesy from their own inspiration. 13:17
b. The Magic Wrist Bands of protection: charms, medals of protection, medallions, healing cloths, rabbits feet, etc. 13:
Note: Roman Catholic Medallions__False Security instead of Repentance.
c. Punishment of false prophetesses___13:21-23.
IV. The Hypocritical City. Chapter 14:1-11
1. God Inquiring Elders with Idolatrous Hearts. 14:1-8.
2. Deceiving prophets to be punished with the Inquirers. 14:9-11
___A true Prophet will know the hearts of those to whom he speaks.
Note: 4-fold test of a prophet___________
1. Life. Matt. 7:15-17
2. Doctrine. 1st John 4:1,6
3. Prophecies. Deut. 18:22
4. Miracles. 2nd Cor. 12:12 and Deut. 13:1-5.
V. The Hopeless City. Chapter 14:12-23
1. Sin so great that Noah, Daniel or Job cannot save the city. 14:12-20
a. Sin so great that Noah, Daniel or Job can only deliver themselves.
b. Famine, beast, sword, plagues to come on Jerusalem even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in the midst.
2. Sin not so great as to wipe out all. There will be a remnant. 14:21-23.
Note: 10 righteous souls would have saved Sodom, Gen. 18.
VI. The Useless City. Chapter 15
1. The uselessness of the Wood of the Vine. 15:1-5.
___good only as fuel for the fire.
2. Jerusalem useful only as fuel for the fire. 15:6-8
